Export help, advice and suggestions.

Export advice

There are many companies, trade organisations, and government departments offering free and paid for advice. The problem is, unless you have the resources and the time, you will never stop gathering information, suggestions and things to do. The idea behind this page is to provide some basic information and to suggest methods which could help you boost those export orders. Some of this information has come from personal experiences and some from working with companies already exporting in a limited way.

Online Export

Unless you have a high brand name, and established website, people will only find you because you have been in business for many years, operate in a niche market, use trade shows, mail brochures etc., or because they found you in a search engine results.  Without a modern website which is focused on potential customers, their needs, and provide the information they seek, you will always have limited success.

Exporting Goods and Services

Things to consider are, language differences, payment terms, customer support etc., when offering your products and services to customers located in other countries. Exporting will always cost more, due to marketing costs, delivery, different standards, and the importer may well have standards which are not normal for you, and payment could take months, and you may not have a government export guarantee.

Trade Leads

An existing customer, a trade lead from a show, website form, or telephone enquiry are some of your sources of the next order. Treating this major source correctly is a lot cheaper than marketing for new customers, but it takes time and resources. Maybe you export only to your overseas agents and distributors. Do you support them with trade show support, marketing material, and a newsletter?, all are considered vital if you are to meet export targets.

Government Support

A wide range of UK government support services can be found on the UK Government BusinessLink website.

Exporting help

Trade organisations and local Chambers of Commerce can provide help and support, There are a number of business Forums which can be very supportive when you make a Forum post about an export problem or need advice. If you need some help and support, maybe I can be of assistance. 20 plus years international exporting experience to China, Russia, the USA , Japan, Europe etc, the company exported 85% of it's products and services, a lot of knowledge and experience you could use.
